BEST COLOUR FOR YOUR BRAND

Over the coming weeks, I shall be enlightening you with a series of articles on colour. These blogs will help you ascertain which is the best colour for your brand and business. The obvious place to start is with the most popular colour in the corporate world: Blue

Blue is the colour of the sky and sea. It is often associated with depth and stability. Blue symbolises trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, faith and truth.

Blue is considered beneficial to the mind and body. It slows human metabolism and produces a calming effect. Blue is strongly associated with tranquillity and calmness.

In the meaning of colours, blue relates to one-to-one communication, especially communication using the voice – speaking the truth through verbal self-expression – it is the teacher, the public speaker, the coach. Physiologically, blue is calming, reducing tension and fear. It slows the pulse rate and reduces appetite. Being a cool colour it creates a sensation of space.

Blue is a masculine colour; according to studies, it is highly accepted among males. Dark blue is associated with depth, expertise, and stability.

You can use blue to promote products and services related to cleanliness (cleaning products, vodka), air and sky (airlines, airports, cloud services), water and sea (holidays, bottled water). Blue is linked to consciousness and intellect. Use blue to suggest precision when promoting high-tech products.

Avoid using blue when promoting food and cooking, because blue suppresses appetite.
