Artisan gluten free pizza bases with authentic Italian flavours
Bocconcini Bakery have been making their delicious fresh gluten-free pizza base for over five years. They supply some of London’s top pizza chains as well as individual pizzarias. For their next growth phase, Bocconcini Bakery wanted to branch out into the retail space. However, they were told that their brand and packaging was not fit for purpose and would not stand out in the busy market. Consequently, they approached az.design for a brand refresh plus packaging design to support both the trade and retail markets.

Brief
Top priority was to convey the core values and personality of the authentic, artisan brand. The branding needed to exude quality and Italian heritage within a fun and friendly identity whilst working well on packaging.
Result
Illustrative elements of leaves, pizza toppings and pizzas were created alongside a commissioned photoshoot of the pizza bases and business founder, Antonella (photography by Anna Lachlan Photography). A new, vibrant colour palette was produced with the colours of Italy – bright reds and sage greens, along with the kraft paper background for an artisan, natural feel. A fun suite of fonts was crafted alongside distinct icons for dietary symbols. Lastly and importantly, a brand book was produced and supplied with all brand assets for the client to use across social media and other marketing channels. The client is really happy with the outcome so far and excitingly, the packaging is currently being designed.
