Sentient Communications

The brief

Brand consultancy Sentient Communications needed a fresh look and slick website. They had outgrown their logo (drawn on the back of a napkin) after several successful years in business and felt their branding and visual identity required an expert eye.

The WIX website had been created internally and worked well for the first few years in business. However, it was now not fit for purpose with limitations from both a design and SEO perspective. The brief was to redesign the site professionally using a superior CMS platform to focus on a strategic SEO plan without losing the content from the existing site.

Strategy

We developed a new visual identity for the brand, producing brand guidelines to ensure consistency throughout Sentient’s online presence. The logo design reflected the brand’s personality and sense of connection and collaboration. Typography, colours, imagery and iconography were also considered and established and all brand assets were supplied to the client.

To allow for better SEO, we moved the website from Wix to WordPress. This also allowed us to produce a more bespoke design in line with the new slick brand image. Advice on a content template for the website and work section was provided and working alongside PinkSEO.Marketing, we optimised all the pages on the site. The existing blog posts were copied across from the previous Wix website, so that nothing was lost during the development of the new site.

Results

The transition of sites was painless, and the new look and feel has energised our outlook and put a new gloss on our work. Couldn’t be happier and would certainly recommend az.design.

The new brand and website were met with positive reactions upon launch. The transition from old site to new site was seamless without any loss of rankings. Within months of launching, the website appears top for its name in Google as well as top three for several other keywords and subsequent pages.

Client testimonial

I’ve worked with many designers over the decades and was so pleased to have chosen Angela for the job. She grasped the brand’s positioning very quickly, establishing a series of idents to choose from which have not only strengthened our brand’s stand-out, but the design has also added to our story.

Design deliverables

Logo design + visual identity

First, we worked on the brand and visual identity. The essence of the brand was to: Forge meaningful relationships between people and brands.

The ident is a geometric S monogram created by combining circles together, to symbolise networks and collaboration, creating dynamic, tailor-made solutions every time.

Circular icons were then produced to reflect the Sentient specialisms. A clean, crisp background pattern also sits in the brand kit for use on website and also presentations.

All assets were supplied in a variety of formats to use for other digital and print media.

Brand guidelines

Our mini brand guidelines document allowed Sentient to create a strong, consistent brand across all media channels to increase client trust. Supplied as a PDF, it includes colour palette with RGB/CMYK/# breakdowns, typography, and icons, plus pattern and illustration examples. This means that any designers or suppliers Sentient works with in the future will have a clear point of reference to work from.

Website design + build

The website was built using WordPress and a popular theme which is easy for client to update once live. WordPress is much more effective for SEO. We set up case study pages denoting work examples and social proof and also moved across all blog posts from old Wix website. All pages on the site were researched for SEO by PinkSEO.Marketing. The whole process from old to new was seemless and painless, yet provided an impactful new brand.
